KIGALI, April 14 (AFP) - The mandate of Rwanda's transitional government has been extended for three months to enable it to conclude peace talks with Rwandan rebels, officials said here Wednesday.

The government, including supporters and opponents of President Juvenal Habyarimana, was formed on April 16, 1992, with a one-year mandate. Habyarimana met leaders of the five parties in the coalition and agreed to extend the term on Tuesday.

Negotiations between the government and the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) are currently away in the Tanzanian town of Arusha. The RPF, formed mainly of exiles from the Tutsi minority, has been fighting the Hutu-dominated regime.
