BRUSSELS, April 10 (Reuter) - The international medical charity
Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) said on Sunday it was evacuating all of
its Belgian staff from Rwanda, where there is growing resentment
against the former colonial power.

In view of the situation in the country and as a precautionary
measure, MSF has decided to evacuate...its Belgian members remaining in
the country,
the organisation said in a statement issued in Brussels.

MSF has dozens of doctors and other medical personnel working in the
stricken country, where tens of thousands have been killed in an orgy
of violence and ethnic bloodletting over the last few days.

The statement said MSF would replace Belgian staff with nationals from
other countries if possible. It did not say how many people were
involved.

The Belgians are unpopular among the majority Hutu tribe which believes
they support the rebels.

Officials said there were also strong rumours in Kigali that Belgium,
which granted the African state independence in 1962, had been involved
in last week's killing of Rwanda's president.
