KIGALI, April 22 (AFP) - Some 10 people were injured, including two pregnant women, when a mine exploded Thursday at the sorting office in the central post office in the Rwandan capital, causing extensive damage, informed sources said.

The wounded were rushed to Kigali hospital.

A post office official, Josephine Uwantege, said the mine was probably tucked between the wall of the building and post boxes. Thirty-one people work in the sorting office, she added.

The post office, which had all its windows blown out, is 100 metres (yards) from the offices of President Juvenal Habyarimana.

A mine exploded Monday at the marketplace in Butare, southern Rwanda, wounding 20 people, two seriously. Damage was considerable.

That and other similar attacks have not been claimed.

The government is currently holding peace talks at Arusha in Tanzania with rebels of the Rwandan Patriotic Front, active mainly in the north of the small central African highland nation.
